                Planet ini ditemukan oleh Wiliam Hercel pada tahun 1781. Uranus lebih kecil dibandingkan Saturnus, namun lebih besar dibandingkan dengan Bumi. Ukuran planet Uranus 15 kali lebih besar dari bumi. Planet  ini Nampak kehijauan jika dilihat dengan teleskop. Uranus terutama dibentuk oleh gas methane. Uranus merupakan planet yang dingin dengan suhu bisa mencapai -210 derajat Celcius.

                Para astronom menemukan pada tahun 1977 bahwa ada Sembilan cincin tumpul diseputar Uranus pada jarak 64.000 km. pada wilayah itu, satelit yang paling padat sekalipun akan pecah berkeping-keping oleh kekuatan gelombang. Uranus mengitari Matahari selama 84 tahun sekali putar. Satu hari di Uranus sama dengan 16 jam 10 menit di bumi. Uranus mempunyai lima satelit: Miranda, ariel, umbriel, titania, dan Oberon.
